The geological stair of the Swabian Alb(GER) between Tuttlingen and Sigmaringen
Between the Swiss and the Franconian Jura, the Swabian Alb(Mountain) is the central part of a Jura chain stretching right through central Europe, Germany. Bordered by the Black Forest and Baar region in the south-west, the upper Neckar valley in the north, the Ries crater to the east and the Danube to the south. The Swabian Alb has a length of 135miles(220km) and at a breadth up to 50 miles(80km).
On our excursion we will get to know the Swabian Alb with its black, brown and white Jura by exploring rocks and fossils. We will cognize how different rocks shape the landscape. For example the Donauriver made all the way through the Swabian Alb and left the Upper Donauvalley between Tuttlingen and Sigmaringen. We will learn why the Donauriver suddenly seepages, but later tough flows into the Constance Lake by Aach.
By bus we will arrive at the Swabian Alb. We will hike by foot and explore the locate geology. The excursion is made for everyone - for laymen as well - The explanations are generally comprehensible, so no precognition is needed.
